ABOUT ME
Eric has been devotedly married to his wife, Kia for over three decades. Together, they have built a strong foundation of family values and community engagement. As a father to Aisling, an accomplished educator, and Eric II, a dedicated first responder, both proud products of the Newton County School System, Eric's commitment to education and community development is deeply personal.
Law Enforcement and Public Service
With a background as a Deputy Sheriff-Investigator at the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, Eric Threets brings firsthand experience in maintaining safety and order to Covington. His service in law enforcement has granted him a deep understanding of community needs and the importance of responsive, accountable governance.
As a Licensed and Ordained Minister of the Gospel, Eric has guided and supported his community through spiritual guidance and compassion. His role as a Volunteer Chaplain at Piedmont Newton and Senior Chaplain at Piedmont Walton reflects his commitment to the well-being of Covington's residents beyond just their physical safety.
Community Advocate and Leader
Eric's involvement in local boards and organizations showcases his dedication to the city's growth and development. As a Board Member of the Covington Development Authority and former member of the Covington Historic Preservation Committee and the Garden of Gethsemane Homeless Shelter, he has actively worked to enhance community resources, preserve heritage, and champion social justice causes.
